Wearing them in, and keeping them

Break-in

Suede softens faster than smooth calf. Expect 2–3 wears before the upper relaxes across the ball of the foot.

Polishing

Brush the nap after every wear with a brass suede brush; no cream, no wax.

Shoe trees

Tree them after every wear so the nap does not crease along the flex line.

After rain

Let them dry fully at room temperature, then raise the nap with a crepe block. Do not brush suede while wet.
